I went for night cycling recce today with Syl, Andrew and Kenny. today's exercise made up for the months that I didn't do real exercise!(i think. at least it definitely felt like it) - 45km, 10 hours (including lunch break). think i cannot seat properly already, someone should invent some kind of air cushion for the bum, haha.

the beginning of the route was fine cos it was My di pan - mountbatten area:) thereafter when we moved further into sentosa area, that's it. my bicycle's back tyre got punctured and it had to be sent to a bicycle shop despite our attempts to pump air into it. Thank God for good weather though, and for an angel sent to help fetch the bicycle and one of us (thanks Andrew!)to get it repaired - think the man saw how pathetic we were pumping air, then sqeezing the tyre to see if there were any holes, and lost in some ulu highway. faints.

then, Worse!the Traffic Police die-die also dun want to give us our license (we need one for >6 pple cycling in a group) - their cranky system cocks up, then its our fault for not going down to outram to get it manually earlier. walao, they think we civilians so Free like them meh......

even better, I wanted to rush back to east coast to return my bike first cos i needed to rush down to the airport for my job briefing at 7pm (and dinner with jean at 6pm supposedly, sorry!) - the bike couldn't fit into the taxi's boot - i think i totally embarassed myself infront of all those pple at the taxi stand la. sigh, finally I just joined the others again to finish the rest of the route.

Sigh, NEWS: the event has to be postponed, and somemore re-arrangements have to be made (eg, the dates, the license blah...) BUT it was an enjoyable day desite all the cock-ups:) (great in fact!) Thank God it was Andrew and Kenny with us (me and syl), if it were other guys who were less calm and patient, Pam would end up sitting along the highway and cry herself silly, then go home all hungry, cranky and grouchy :/

haha, thanks to 3 of u all..
(1)for not being upset despite all the bad things that happened;
(2)still have the mood to be Lame and laugh off the bad things;
(3)laughing at how my basket keeps bouncing off my bike in the middle of the roads instead of scowling me for doing such a stupid thing;
(4)for being so ON about everything;
(5)free entertainment; and of course
(6)for being part of this whole thing with us!

And thanks to Pastor for the map, if not we would have to use Kenny's and most probably ended up in Newton or goodness-knows-where. haha. i think i'm starting to babble nonsense already; even went out to the 5th floor instead of my floor on the 6th just now. I really need to sleep and have nice warm spa bath :)

this one happened when I was in Bangkok just last weekend. i love moving around in tut-tuts cos they're dangerous and fun! the highway codes there all end up as:"You turn anytime, anywhere you want. No speed limit - their min=max". ANYWAY, that's not the point la, those normal taxis are more comfortable and cheaper (only when there's no jam) but not much fun, except for the one time which i will tell u later.

We took taxi back, the first time after all those tut-tuts. I told him, "Bangkok Palace Hotel please, thank u!".

Halfway in the middle of traffic (red light) he got out of the taxi and walked 2 cars before us and started chatting and laughing with the driver in the front. *shocking!* now we know, here's another highway code of theirs: No need to look for single yellow line or white lines to allow for alighting (unlike Singapore's code), u can stop ANYtime and ANYwhere, YOU happy can already:) but he has a very accurate sense of timing! amazing, eventually he came back and just as he closed the door, it changed to green light. these pple super-PRO, POWER! (heh, think can save on handphone bills)

THEN he drove for a really long time and finally brought us to this super-ulu hotel which didn't have the words "bangkok" or "palace".only "hotel" duh. hm...the moment he slowed down i gave him a "huh? Bangkok Palace?", then he huh-ed me back and snorted. *erm, not so smart hor.* then as he turned into another road to bring us to the correct place, he got his taxi boot bumped into, by a lorry! yes, we stopped again, for the third time. (recall, 1st:traffic junction to chit-chat; 2nd:to alight us at the WRONG hotel) both drivers got out (i wanted to bang my head already la) good thing it wasn't a serious bump and they ended it quickly - i think it's the lorry's fault but he was quite fierce so settled quickly. haha, loser.

thank God it all ended well, we gave him more than he deserved because it seemed like one "boring" taxi ride turned out to be 10X more exciting than all the tut-tut rides we had! what an adventure.

The End.

here's some pictures of my fav tut-tuts.

kinda dark...cos its taken in the night! ta-da.

this is the best discovery we found - a TutTut garage! how cool is that huh?! haha. (jasmine's in white and the one in green is one of her aunt)

the lawyer aunt, jasmine and me - think its Jas' first time on the tut-tut :)

My weekend was a really refreshing time spent in Bangkok - shopping and eating. the company was real fine - Jasmine, Rupen and Jas' 2 Aunts. thank God for her Aunts cos they were really nice; not only paying good money for good food, they also were pretty ON about everything, whether its trying new food or taking the tut-tut or shopping through endless lanes. Yes, as Jas said, I bought enough stuff to open 'Pam's Loom', check them out below:

bikini only for S$10 - after bargaining!

i think the guys' shirts were really nice! (i have good taste!) bought many for my brother's 15th birthday :)

the dresses are so pretty! something like some beach surf girl thing. haha

yup, that's about it. not much time and money to buy any more (i would though..) total i spent S$350 on shopping - it's a girls' shopping paradise, better than Hong Kong I would say :) yes, i heard from Jean that esther mickey can't believe that I ONLY spent $350. (pls dun jump off the building ok! haha) well well, not enough time and money lor, i figured I was there for only 2 Whole days. what's a girl to do if there's no time, no money? hmm..

anyway, no rioting or whatsoever - was really safe :)

next up:stories

Maids are headaches. Yes, there are good maids. The one who served us for 8 years left for home and we had to get another one. Loads of problems and I only realised that after 3 months cos i didn't want to have any misconceptions - mum was right after all. Why does she have to work as a maid when she knows nuts about cleaning and cooking? hmmm ok, maybe not the cooking part, but at the very least the cleaning! (even i can do cleaning:/) Her excuse: She's from the villages and knows nothing about the city, back home her mother-in-law does everything for her. why the need to work as a maid if u have one doing stuff for u in the comfort of your own home?free somemore! just eat and give her grand-children right? erm.hm...

and seriously, how MUCH do maids actually earn by coming to Singapore to work? sigh, some deserve some pity i guess... i'm not too sure that's the majority though...OH talking abt that, the previous one was quite good. she knew how to please my mum and was sweet-tongued and we had fun together :) she's pretty smart too! picked up english real well, communication was not a problem and she learnt some chinese too..haha. but her reason for working as a maid? its to escape from her father who was forcing her to study. and her bf died in an accident and maybe she wanted to escape from that too.. ultimately, she got into some trouble b4 she went home - imagine, she goes to a party and they're drinks and the next thing u know, she needs to see a doctor.

anyway, this present one is really 'good'. she likes to take stuff on her own accord and somehow enjoys pissing my mum off.(haha, maybe that's because she knows my mum is easily irritated, hmm..not as dumb as we thought her to be after all!maybe its part of her strategy) just today she wore my slippers and when caught, said that since no one was wearing it, it was ok for her to use. and she got h*ll of course, since its not the first time. her strike-back? stare out of the door and windows into blank space and left everything dirty and unwashed. thank God Haniel was sensible enough today to mop the floor and clean the huge pile of dishes, phew!

conclusion: no maids for me in my house (that's IF i have my own house..one day), enough adventures with them, erghs.

BY THE WAY: inside man VS firewall - and winner is Inside Man, although harrison ford was so charming and the acting was good, the plot just didn't do, totally crappy ending. ps: spoiler - how can ONE man, manage to fight and kill the group of bad guys? its just funny in a silly way la, oh well.

V for Vendetta is really good! everyone should catch it, really really! But I think I'll wait for the vcd then watch it again with Lijuan. That 'V' guy talked so much, so fast that I couldn't catch every single thing he said, i think I stoned at the beginning because i wasn't used to the way he was talking. oh well...it'll be worth the wait:)

oh, I liked one thing that was mentioned:"People should not be afraid of the Government, it is the Government who should fear the people." I used to take a non-chalant attitude about politics, meaning I really can't be bothered with what the government does or does not do for us. Whatever they have to give, I just take it as it is. I even believe strongly that many of my peers in Singapore don't care less either. If they were given a chance to vote (which they most probably will once they hit 21), they wouldn't bother voting, or it would be a walkover. hmm, but after watching vendetta I think it's good to take an interest in what the government is doing.

talking about this, I'm wondering how elections will be...it's not like there will be any huge difference but I do notice that other parties are becoming more prominent. oh, if any of u happened to read the new paper last week when they featured my lecturer Ms Sylvia Lim. She is involved in politics now but I can't remember whether it is the Workers' Party or the other one....oh no, anyway i do wish her the best:)

hmm. totally enjoyed myself today :) even though it's a small group of us (5) instead of the usual 8-10 plus pple, I feel like we can talk more and it's so comfortable. haha, i guess with super lame andrew and our very-intelligent-future-economist mr kenny tan, we will never have lack of topics to talk about. I (and syl) sure learnt lots tonight, about China especially (lijuan has enough insights to write her GP essays, I'm sure).

ahem, MI:3 next?

ps: I got half my voice back, thank God :) pray for the other half to return, heh
