my last day in korea was an unwilling one - i really think i could stay on for another month lor. haha, the next week will be telling anyone who asks me about my trip! so many things i can talk abt:)

btw, a new record has been made - my total luggage weight is min. 45kg - including check in and carry on - shocking! not really, must have been the kimchi, really... sylvia loves korea kimchi - keeps insisting that the taste is different from the ones in singapore, guess she's quite right. the taste is more distinct, in fact yummier?

anw, i had to pay 12kg of excess baggage - think jean's stuff added on to the weight..heh heh nvm yeow yeow can help me buy somemore stuff :) clothes, morning glory notebooks, kimchi, skin food and candy:)

the skin food is really much cheaper. for eg, a snow eye serum costs S$10 in the wonderful city, whereas here it costs $20 plus. gasps! its rubbish lar, i better get my one year's supple of skinfoood plus the freebies!

meanwhile, have been busy giving out stuff bought from korea - the box is almost empty (can u believe it jean? 6kg of stuff)

IF singapore does offer a dual citizenship, i might consider korea! haha:)

6th sept 2008

Headed to the Premium Outlets to check out the branded stuff at factory outlet prices, or so the tourist book claims – not as cheap as I had expected, but I managed to get 2 good deals. One black leather Adidas bag and a pair of black-green Adidas ankle-cut shoes with suede material – shiokness! Cost me 100,000 won roughly….but it’s a good buy cos im very very happy! All the travelling to Yeo-ju and back to Seoul made us very tired, so on the way back we quickly walked round dongdaemun before heading home. There’s really no time to waste!

Dongdaemun has 2 huge shopping malls – meglorie and hello am/pm. 3 storeys each, couldn’t finish looking at everything so we decided to go back to rest – chiko was getting tired too… sigh, Japanese are not really into shopping it seems – jean and I can walk like forever…recall HK…

Oh well, my trip’s coming to an end – its back to school and work! Sigh, I really wouldn’t mind extending my trip for another 3 months? Maybe I’ll go back to do a semester – advanced Korean studies :)

haha, I can hear my mum ranting already – Singapore is better lar…. Don’t waste money… You want to study until u’re how old? Blah blah blah…..

yeoju scenary, looks kinda like countryside, nice:)

premium outlets, me and chiko:)
this is only like 1/8 of the buildings...

a peek into one of the shopping malls in dongdaemun, WOW!
a little like mongkok zong sum:)

Seoul 5 sept 2008

We spent the whole day at Everland :) had to join the morning rush – they are everywhere across the world – except that in Seoul the ppl are Super orderly – they queue up to enter the train, no pushing at all! The pushing happens in the trains when pple move from cabin to cabin – esp the ajumas, BUT aside from that, they REALLY queue up to enter the train. I’m impressed :)

And so, we spent the whole day in everland until abt 8pm plus before going back – when we were back at hoegi, we met up with At-zhi onni to go sul-jib – jean’s friend was workin there so we had free food and free drinks, on top of what we had ordered.

Had ra-meon and rice cake – dun really like rice cake – toooo starchy haha. Ordered a jug of orange mixed with soe-ju, think it was of higher alcohol level so we got red faster – learnt a new word – chi = drunk. Haha….we had free cider drinks from jean’s friend – his name is myeong woo - china boy who looks like a korean. and he pinched jean's arm, so funny.

On the way back, we saw a drunk man snoring on the side of the road. Haha, seldom see that – I suddenly laughed – dunno if it’s the soju.....

Tmr its Premium outlets at yeo-ju!

Lots of travelling here, and walking – my poor legs haha. but im loving it!hmmm i still dun

they really Q for the train here, whether or not its peak hour...i love it!

just woke up after the 1hour ride to everland - jean's face says it all

grp shot in front of everland entrance - w/o photographer
so happy holding the won for our entrance tickets - looks abit mad eh haha
its halloween theme! the hat's so cute:)

just ONE roundabout ride, and the two girls went to puke. sigh, jean cant take the ride, so my good friend was dao-yan (director) - he was pretending to puke - so evil...

jean and at-zhi onni at the sul jib - we love our orange soju:):):)

Seoul, 4 sept 2008

C.O.E.X mall is a more attas area to go shopping – I finally bought the pretty handphone straps from ArtBox, also got the KyungHee Korean textbook elementary 2 to revise on my own b4 I decide to re-start Korean lessons at NUS extension. Gosh, I’m gonna need to be sooo disciplined! Yeow yeow will help answer my questions :)

We headed to the kimchi field museum at basement 2, dunno why it’s a field museum but there’s definitely no grass there, and it’s more like a big shop but not a field. Oh well, haha I learnt more abt kimchi! Its really an acquired taste and a healthy one indeed! EVERYONE should eat kimchi and be healthy :)

Met xia ling (taiwanese friend) and her friends – from china and hk – one onni (her name's le zhou i think) was really nice and kept chatting with us. Went to galleria to walk around – even more expensive than taka leh! All branded stuff – but I managed to find my tootsie rolls in the supermarket at the basement :) cheaper than online sprees and sooooo juicy yummy! Going to buy more when I get my hands on them, maybe lotte mart or E-mart have them :)

Dinner was at kyo-chon – a restaurant opened by Shinhwa – selling chicken. Quite good and tasty, the spicy ones were shiok!

Oh I just remembered – yesterday on the way back to hoegi station with chiko and jean, an ajushi boarded the train and started shouting – I had to laugh because he was so drama and kept saying, “Bi-ah-nay-yo! I’m sorry!” in both Korean and English – jean said he was saying that the Chinese are good! Haha, dunno whether he’s mad or drunk but I was afraid he might come over and start shouting at us. Thank goodness he only went up and down the same cabin with really disturbing anyone.

And then, when we alighted at Hoegi, a boy, mayb uni student was leaning over the metal bars while waiting for his train. His cap dropped onto the tracks – guess what? He jumped into the tracks, retrieved his cap, and climbed up on the side where we were watching him from. Amazing stuff they do huh! thank goodness he had enough time, since the arrival bell for the train had not rung yet. Haha, if anyone did that in Singapore, he/she might be fined, I think. Everyone would definitely whip out their phones and it’ll be on next day’s news! Well……well…..

ANYWAY its Everland tmr! Yeah!

train stations have mirrors - its normal haha
my stash for the day!

with xialing on the way back:)

soeul, 3rd september 2008

it's yet another wonderful day! spent the day at gyeongbokgung - its palace cum folk museum. ok lar, interesting cos i saw the ceremony for changing guards at the palace museum. it happens daily at 11am except for mondays..i think:)

the place is sooo huge, i walked til i almost closed my eyes - yes,its that tiring! plus the terribly scorching weather - i chose to wear a long sleeved cotton top - almost died of heat stroke haha...

then, we went to insadong - art street - to walk walk:) that's where i ate my First Kimbab in my life :) bought from GS25 convenience mart - bulgogi kimbab is very yummy! and i love my uug-susu cha (corn tea)!

next was myeong-dong - shopping area! i love the place, but not enough money cos i spent mostly on skinfood and face shop and makeup stuff - have to go back there again! haha:) i LOVE myeong dong! and the very very fun thing is that they give free gifts such as cotton pads or ear buds to attract pple into the store, then when u stuff, u get a WHOLE load of free samples, mask or face rollers etc. I get soooo excited everytime they give free stuff leh! wait til u see the pictures of free stuff:):):)

met a new friend - mike from seattle, usa - i think its seattle. haha, we went to dr fish - actually its a book and spa cafe - the fish spa is soooo fun! they have it in singapore too - the fish will bite off your dead skin off your feet - initially its scary cos they look like man-eating fish, but they're rather gentle and the ticklish feeling turns into somewhat of a massaging kinda feeling. wah shiok la! i swear my feet feels smoother :):)

next we had shabu shabu for dinner and headed to the Han river - took the cruise that took 60 minutes and enjoyed the cool air and scenary of lights :) wanted to go to building no. 63 but it was too late so we headed back home.

its crazy how the weather changes - morning is cool, afternoon is scorching hot, night time turns cold. i have a strong feeling its already Fall...and so, its photo time!

the guard changing ceremony

was a little scared of the guard - looked really serious, but i did rmbr to say kamsahamnida.

sitting at insadon roadside eating lunch - my First kimbab and fav oogsusu cha :):)
mar-sheet-saw-yo!

here the fish are huge - and hungry for dead skin!
only 2000won neh

the fish biting at my feet - removing as much "yummy" dead skin as they can!

shabu shabu

han river lights - another cruise

and this is what i mean - my whole stash of free samples! the sales girl gave me - i didn't even have to ask lor! her hand just kept moving - kept me soooo excited.
one thing for sure, singaporeans love free stuff.
and the face shop and skin food in singapore are tooooo stingy to give anything! hmph:(

my buys for the day - mainly mascara for gifts, nose packs from skin food and face shop, blush from banila co - they having 50%!

i think skin food is better:)

Seoul 2 September 2008

Checked in early at t1 – went to t2 to kaypoh abit b4 chagia walked me to my gate when he ended work – so sweet. I was pretty excited about travelling on flight all by myself!

4.05pm – cathay flight to HK, I was entitled to the whole row – the whole section was almost empty yet, the air crew forgot to give me earphones, despite my requests for them.

reached HK at 8pm and had to stay in transit for 4 hours before boarding the next flight to Seoul, Incheon. Walked around and ate popeye’s for 2 hours before settling down to watch my show and trying to surf net – pity hk wireless is weird, couldn’t get onto msn. Sigh, ah nic must be waiting and waiting for me to be online. he was nice enuff to call me just to check if i was fine :)

And funny thing is there were no obvious information counters and no 24 hour convenience stores. What if pple need emergency items while in transit – having the perfume shop open will not help! Am glad changi airport has 7-eleven

Oh well, so at 1220am I boarded the flight – strangely the whole flight was so crowded, unlike the flight from SIN to HK, there were mainly Koreans. They all did one thing the moment they got settled in their seats – took off their shoes – so I did the same!shiok la:)

5am: I finally reached Seoul! The pre-mixes I bought for jean plus the pandan cake her mum passed to me were getting heavier by the minute – so relieved! Sadly, the Korean airport has NO trolleys until u reach the baggage area. I had to drag 2 huge luggage – mine plus jean’s filled with her clothes to prepare for the cold weather.

Took the bus from the airport to meet her at cheongnyangi – finally reached her place – with no lifts, we had to drag the luggage up FOUR floors. Made my first friend – chiko sshi from Osaka, japan! And her room mate atzu onni :)

Jean brought me around her school before meeting up with chiko to eat my FIRST meal in Seoul – my favourite bibimbab. Cost 4500W which is S$6. Hmmm, with all the Korean eateries popping up back home, it’s nothing special, the prices back home are pretty similar too – but I felt satisfied nevertheless – kimchi, kim (seaweed) and fish cake was yummy! I love panchan (side dishes)!!

Next was Shopping at edae, walking on the piano street, chongaychon river (it’s a really clean man made river so we sat on steps and soaked our feet in it for a good 30 minutes – so refreshingly cool!), jajangmeon for dinner – tastes normal lor, just that the noodles are really smooth and goes down well – 3000W which is S$4. I got a t-money which is like our ez-link card, one thing different is that the t-money’s really cute! They come in small cards thingy that can be used as phone accessories – not like the boring standard ez-link cards.

Next friend made – xia ling from kao shiung, Taiwan – can click easily because we can communicate in Chinese.

Slept really early cos was tired out from the travelling – more updates tmr!

at cheongyecheon river (with my new specs i bought) - nerd look is super IN here!

the water's really soooo nice - left is jean's legs, right's mine

my stash for the day:):):)

oh this is funny, saw it at the optics- so diff from singapore's! got animal pictures and korean words hehe
